My Take

BrainPop is awesome! The knowledge gained in just 5 minutes cannot be beat. Teachers can use whole class or individualized instruction to assign a short, engaging video to introduce, reinforce, or reteach content. At the end of each video, students/teachers can have immediate feedback on knowledge gained by taking a 10 question quiz.

How I Use It

I have found BrainPop to be especially helpful when introducing a topic. This is just one example:
My advanced 7th grade class was about to start reading the novel, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. My students had very little historical knowledge of this time period. I easily found several BrainPop videos about Germany, it rulers, and the time period. As a class, we watched and discussed these videos. In one class 45 minutes class period, I was able to provide the basic background knowledge my students needed.
I have found BrainPop to be helpful with science, social studies, language arts, and math. BrainPop also has a teacher resource area with lesson plans ideas and ties to Common Core Standards.
