Beautiful photographs and videos are paired with up to date factual information about wildlife around the world.Teaching resources are available for different age groups from the Arkive Education link.This is a great database for visually stunning imagery that can be used in student projects.Detailed "fact files" offer additional information for older students.Printable factsheets are available which include references, glossary and suggestions for further learning.
How I Use It
"Top facts" sections breaks information into smaller chunks for younger readers. Wish there was a way to have text read out loud to students to lend comprehension support. I really appreciate how frequently this site is updated.

Great resource for my ecology and environmental unit.

Wonderful resource for animal research.
I found this website while searching for kid suitable websites to use for our Endangered Animal Unit. This website is really great if kids need a reliable site to research info about animals. Thy include info on habitat, habits, appearance, endangered status, and conservation efforts. The info for each animal is relatively high level so if you work with low functioning kids or lower grades, this may be difficult for them to understand. My on level 6th grade students have no problem with the info. They do have great resources for all grade levels with games, projects and activities to teach ideas like classification and diversity.
