My Take

ABCYa.com is a go-to site for me and for my students. They choose it frequently for free time activities. When I need to explain a basic concept (such as animation) I love to use ABCYa.com games (like the Animation software) to demonstrate and allow students to practice. Some of the activities are placed in the wrong grade level, in my opinion, but overall the balance of activities is great. I use the keyboarding activities for everything from K to 5th.

How I Use It

Animation for the basics of creating stop-animation movies. Last year my students created their own films by using the animation program to create stop-animation films (such as reenacting the Boston Tea Party by drawing simple boats and stick figures) and then they narrated their movie and filmed it using our iPod touches. It was an incredible learning experience!
