Horrible Product
Horrible. Wording is crazy on word problems. Confuses in a way that does not promote learning. Someone up high sold this really bad learning material to schools and made millions over students success.

Anyone know specifically what passages the reading program uses?
No one seems to know where the reading passages are coming from and what topics they address. For example, my 8-year-old had a story about bullying (what is a bully, why a person is a bully, etc.) self -esteem (a kid moves and wants to know why no one likes him). She's reading ahead of her grade level. What happens next year when she's reading 5th grade material? Will she hear stories of body development or drugs and alcohol. There is no human follow up to these passages that are supposed to be assessing comprehension, phonics skills, vocabulary. Even folks at the company can't tell me what stories are in there! And the teachers don't know either!

I don't think this program is an effective tool to measure my child's progress.
Each portion of a reading story takes too long. My child can read on her own much faster. The endless review is boring and doesn't incentivize her to want to move on to the next lesson. It would be better if students could click for help to listen to the story or review with the I ready characters.

Great option for Data Driven Teachers!
I like this program for two main reasons:
1. It caters to students needs. The first diagnostic test determines the level of each student, so the lessons they receive are differentiated. You can also assign lessons to the students.
2. Data, Data, Data! The progress monitoring and diagnostic assessments that I give every two months allow me to track student growth and understanding. The diagnostic test also provides Lexile levels. The program offers resources that can be used in small groups with the teacher as well.

"i-Ready" for a great reading resource!
I love having this tool in my classroom. The thing I really like is the data that it provides for me and for my students. After the diagnostic assessment, the teacher is provided with grade level placement scores for each domain. This is great to get a full picture of the student and which areas of English/language arts they need additional assistance. This program also creates individual lessons for the students that focuses on their needs. Having this allows the teacher more time to work on skills with students instead of creating lessons. To serve the students better, I would recommend the program allowing students a choice of lessons to work on. This would increase student engagement and allow students to feel that they are in charge of their learning. Overall, this is a great tool and I would highly recommend this tool for any teacher who wants to provide their students with extra English/Language arts practice.

I hate it, students hate it
Frankly, I hate it. No student should have to endure this terrible excuse for an educational program. If anything it makes my students try even less on stuff that actually matters.

i-Ready: A great tool to supplement reading instruction for high and low kiddos!
I am definitely a fan of i-Ready! I recognize its shortcomings, but I think it's the best program on the market for an all-in-one assessment/online instruction/data-driven instruction product.
Given that it's still relatively new program (I believe it launched circa 2009), they continue to offer product enhancements. For example, they've recently updated their lesson listing to include closed reading lessons that are more engaging and more rigorous for higher students. In addition, they've updated the student dashboard experience to make it more student-friendly.
I do wish they offered a way to import student data instead of requiring a diagnostic. For example, my school uses NWEA MAP but we ALSO must have students take the iReady. That's a ton of assessing for our kiddos!

Let's all get i-Ready!
I love this program and so do the majority of my classes. If I was a classroom teacher I would be able to monitor more closely the students' progress. The reading and the math lessons are kid friendly and mostly age appropriate. The 3rd grade lesson seem to have some babyish characters in their lessons.
