TypingWeb Improves Typing Speed
In NY, a Common Core Standard for middle school students is to be able to type three pages in one period. Typingweb shows students how to position their hands on the keyboard. We have been using this site for several months and we have seen considerable gains in typing speed. Some students started at 15 WPM and are now at 100 WPM - most students are at 35-40 WPM.

Very simple, straight forward website that allows for typing practice and assessment
This is a very easy to use free website that allows students to practice their typing skills. You can use a csv file to upload student names, user ids, and passwords. You can track a student's progress easily through the dashboard, and the practices have a visual of the keyboard and fingers to help reinforce student connections.

Great visuals, personalized reports, and step-by-step keyboarding program
Typing Web is a very comprehensive keyboarding website! It introduces keys with visuals to help students learn as they are practicing reaching for the correct keys with the correct fingers. It presents logical, step-by-step levels in the Courses portion, ability to practice in the Games portion (I would take out the bomb, though for school kids), ability to assess in the Test portion, and ability to monitor their own progress in the Statistics portion. As a teacher, I was able to import student info from a CSV spreadsheet file, which helped in setting up all student classes from 4th - 8th grade. I am able to view several reports on student progress. All of this for free! Students like getting digital trophies and the games. I would like to see the games be more integrated into the lessons like Type to Learn does, or at least identify which games should be played after which Courses.

Free, easy, colorful typing practice for students.
Typingweb is the best typing website I've found on the web to date. Students like it because they can choose a theme for the coloring. There is a cutesy theme, racing theme, military theme, and more. Typingweb offers many courses for students to go through, from basics to more advanced lessons. Some of the best features are the typing games and current news headlines. I also love the ability for students to target their most missed keys with a special lesson on those keys. Typingweb can be your primary typing instructor, or it can just supplement how you teach typing. I will note, there are ads on the free version. I use a browser-based ad-blocker to solve this issue (though, if you have the money, you should give them some - it is well deserved).
