Bio

I am an Arizona Certified K12 Career and Technical Education Teacher who is passionate about technology integration, constantly looking for and trying new technologies. I am an advocate for meaningful technology integration across all content areas and grade levels. I also believe that it does not have to be hard, and just because one way of integrating technology works for one person does not mean it will work for someone else.

Currently, I lead the curriculum and instruction crew, part of the Youth Entrepreneurship Team within the J.Orin Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute at Arizona State University. We design the curriculum and all supporting materials for grant-sponsored programs. All of our content is based on the pillars of emerging technology, entrepreneurial mindset, design thinking, and sustainability. Some of the technologies we utilize are 360 cameras, VR headsets, Sphero RVR, Micro:bits, Snap Circuits, TinkerCAD, OnShape, Make Code, CoSpaces, Merge Cube, and 3D printers. I love challenging students to solve real-world problems utilizing emerging technology through design thinking

I have ten years of teaching experience at an inner-city charter high school working with at-risk students. I taught a range of courses from Intro to Programming to Personal Finance, all using Edmodo and later, Schoology, as the main hub for all class activity. I fully integrated technology into every area of my classroom. Coming from a background in business, I know how important it is for students to learn to use and become proficient with relevant technologies. I believe that students who do not know how to use technology and adapt quickly to changing technologies will struggle in the workplace of the future, regardless of their level of education.

I am also a wife of 30+ years, mother of 3 grown children, a grandmother, a certified drone pilot, small business owner, an ambassador for Women who Drone, a former Cub Scout, Girl Scout, and Boy Scout Leader, Boy Scout Camp Archery Director, and Children’s Ministry teacher who loves working with children/young adults.
