I find Starfall so purposeful for phonics instruction that I wish they would create a similar math instruction component. The theme/holiday activities are enjoyable and help support all types of learners. I often use the Learn to Read (2) section as a computer lab activity- printing the table of contents for each child and using a check off system as they complete the areas.

Starfall is a good source for all students. It is very beneficial for students to achieve skills needed to become confident beginning readers .

I think this is a great website/app for students to work individually on skills they need more reinforcement activities.

For a free site, it's great. It is has basic phonics, but you can also just let them play and create personalized pumpkins. It will keep small people engaged for a class period, but not much more; they figure out eventually that they are learning.

This app is great for many learning scenarios. Whole group, small group and independent are all applicable to use of this app.

Good for letter recognition and letter sounds. I don't like phonetic voice that reads stories. Stories are not that interesting.

Excellent tool for teaching early learners how to use and share technology.

Students are eager to come into the lab and logi in and get started on Starfall. The very young children love learning the alphabet and listen to the sound it makes. The other students love going and listening to the stories. Students are assigned according to the ability level. English Language Learners are able to learn the english language with ease and enjoyment. The site is very engaging to youngsters

I like Starfall for many of the same reasons I like PBS kids- it allows students to learn while "playing". The engagement factor is high- my kids are motivated by the colorful graphics and songs. We especially like the holiday activities-Earth Day is our classroom favorite.

Using Starfall in the lower elementary classroom engages students with the content in the classroom and at home. It does require Flash at this time for the games to work on the web. There are apps available for mobile devices for some of the games but there is a cost for them.
