My Take
I find Starfall so purposeful for phonics instruction that I wish they would create a similar math instruction component. The theme/holiday activities are enjoyable and help support all types of learners. I often use the Learn to Read (2) section as a computer lab activity- printing the table of contents for each child and using a check off system as they complete the areas.
How I Use It
My morning calendar routine has evolved with the technology of the world. I use a different PowerPoint each month that is customized to the themes we are working on. The first slide is always a hyperlink to Starfall. The teacher's helper for the day leads the class through the calendar activities. We explored artists, composers, phonics, geometry and more with this site - fantastic music and visuals!!! The students even personalize the calendar daily by adding activities to the calendar. It is printable and purposeful.
