An excellent interactive website to learn the Math!
I like the idea that if my student did not get the correct answer, the program provides specific feedback and the right answer.

Leveled math skill practice
I like using this to help reinforce skills that have been taught in class. It is helpful because it can be differentiated to meet the learning needs of various individuals. Students can work independently and read the feedback and try to self-correct their own errors. It keeps track of their scores and provides me with a great amount of data related to the student and the class that can help me plan future lessons.
Some of my students do become frustrated because their score becomes lower when they answer problems wrong, and the feedback is not always helpful, especially if it is different than I had explained. However, I still find this a very useful app for differentiating and providing more practice in specific skills for students who need it.

Great tool to borrow things for your lessons
This is a great tool to pull stuff from. It does have activities for students that are meant to be able to stand on their own but I don't believe they are engaging enough. The nice thing about using them though is it allowed differentiation to easily take place in the classroom.

Great - if there's an incentive
Students get bored quickly! I only use it because my principal requires that I do.

Exciting and Engaging Way to Bring the Core into the Classroom
I love this product as a teaching tool so much. I am contemplating buying it with my own money, which is how much I believe this tool would help students and meet their needs under the core state standards. This is something that can be done whole class, but the individual diagnostics would really help drive instruction and help teachers to understand student misconceptions.

Great practice-Robust Data
This program is probably more liked by teachers in my school than it is by kids. It doesn't have the engaging experience of programs like Sokikom (quite a bit more expensive than iXL) or Sumdog (Quite a bit cheaper than iXL). It is somewhat similar in engagement value as Khan Academy. However, it lacks the ability to 'level' up (avatars, etc.) that students in my class really seem to enjoy.
However, the data available from iXL is extremely valuable for teachers. It is easy to track in what areas students are doing well, and in which areas they need more support and review. It is one of the interventions we use as part of our RtI program in math.

IXL for ELL's
I really like this tool and my EL's do too! This is used with first and second year English learners and they are having success! It gives them practice with the math and how to hone the skills.
I also use this with my own children and I have watched my daughter have success. She enjoys working her way toward a badge and likes working on the computer versus a worksheet. I like it because it gives an explanation of how to work the problem correctly!

FANtastic website!
I am a true believer in this product. I had students MAPS scores increase by over 20 points in Math. We are talking about using it for interventions. I think they could improve by attaching and introduction video to each topic. I do have a student who has challenged herself to a 100 point smart score on every topic in her grade level. She achieved her goal in 6th grade and is working her way through 7th grade. Parents can even help because of the help if the problem was answered incorrectly. I love IXL.
