It's not always easy to find FREE apps for student creation. Educreations is just that. It's easy to learn and the fact the the accounts can be associated with the class allows us to follow school division guidelines.

Use Educreations to make teacher or student created videos. Originally it was designed for teachers to use with the flipped classroom concept. Many teachers, however, are using it for student creations. Use photos, camera, drawings, text, and narration to create multi-slide videos. Educreations can be managed in a teacher created account. Classes can be set up by the teachers. Students are now able to have their own accounts to store their video creations. Educreations is on my top ten list of educational apps. Not only is this a useful app but it is so highly engaging that many of my students have downloaded this app on their own devices to make their own videos at home.

Well received by students as they interact with the material

This is a great tool for students to explain what they know without getting in front of the whole class to explain. You can add pictures, text, and write on the board as you speak. The biggest issue we had in the beginning was the recording had to be perfect and completed in entirety- so the whole thing needed to be redone when there was a little mistake. However, I believe you can erase some of the voiceover now, saving much time in creation of the projects. We do a lot of project based learning in my school, and this is a great way for students to share their work with others.

Has a small learning curve and Educreations has made some great improvements since I used it last fall with grade 5 classes. It works with students of all abilities and levels. Those who are super creative will figure out how to display their creativity. Those who are more concrete will use it effectively too.

Students can show understanding of multiple standards in multiple formats.

I love using educreations instead of traditional whiteboards, or powerpoint (or similar presentation tool). There is no messy clean-up and students have the ability to record and create presentations.
