This app allows individual or group work in creating students own music.

Garage band is an outlet for students to provide creative feedback. Students who may otherwise be too shy or intimidated to speak in front of the whole class can create a vocal presentation and submit it to the teacher.

This app appeals to the novice and expert musician. Even if you know nothing about music composition the SMART instruments can make you sound like you do. On the other hand if you have an extensive musical background or play an instrument there are options for you to create more authentic pieces. I like that this app could appeal to anyone. This product would provide open-ended creativity for the students and could be used an array of ways (imovie, book recordings, podcasts, etc.)

This is a wonderful music creation tool that is very easy and motivating to use. I love that it is intuitive to use and you don't need a music background to create something fun. Honestly we use it with our grade three students and I can't think of anything it can so to improve

Garageband is great for teaching musical concepts such as composition, texture, timbre, expression, harmony, etc. It is also good for reinforcing what instruments go together well. It is kind of expensive and a little difficult to figure out how to use at first, but I think it is worth it.

The students don't even realize they are learning.

Though it isn't as full-featured as GarageBand for the Mac, GarageBand for iOS just begs your students to create! I find it better for the general music classroom than the desktop version because it is set up to primarily use virtual instruments or live recording, and the built-in loops are secondary. Newer features that allow musicians to jam together are fantastic for improv or iBands. Piano roll editing makes sense to students who don't read music. Kids' songs seem more "real" with easy sharing into iTunes or with email.

Excellent tool and the kids love it!

This is a great app for music making, but also a great app for recording students reading.
