Does Our AI Policy Work for Us?
What does it take for an AI policy to truly support student learning?
AI has made it easier than ever for students to skip the hard parts of learning, and harder than ever for teachers to make the case for why those hard parts matter. This lesson helps students reflect on what they actually want from learning, then puts that self-knowledge to work: Using a four-criteria rubric, students evaluate their school's real AI policy and consider recommendations to strengthen it in support of student learning. It's a chance for students to engage seriously with a policy that affects them and to make their voices heard.

- Explain why productive struggle matters for learning, and identify how AI use can support or undermine it
- Evaluate a real AI policy against four criteria: clarity, care, cognition, and completeness
- Reflect on potential recommendations to strengthen an AI policy in support of student learning
