Math Apprentice (hence Math Wizard in training)
I am a middle and high school mathematics educator in my second year of teaching constantly looking for new ways to bring technology into my Algebra 1 classroom! In the past year I have written a successful Donors Choose grant to receive TiNspire calculators for my high school students. Very cool, I know. My school also has continued its Google integration by increasing the number of Chromebook laptop carts available to teachers. In my own time I enjoy using Google + for educational social networking, and attempted to make a Google site for my students that was not well maintained.
I've taught 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th grade mathematics and have found them all to be vastly and surprisingly different. I have also found that there is still a struggle in getting students to use technology. I've made the shift to online mathematics homework assignments (DeltaMath.com) and using solely TiNspires for instruction. In previous years I have used the iPad and in moving forward I am looking to use more online and tech-savvy strategies for teaching the Common Core mathematics standards.
