My name is Courtney Smith. I am a kindergarten teacher at Central City Elementary. I am happily married to a software engineer and we have three dogs. I have my BA in elementary education K-6 from Marshall University. I love going to football and basketball games I think technology is vital to any classroom. Students learn in a variety of ways. Technology is a great way to differentiate instruction. I am currently working on my masters in special education so I am always looking for ways to accommodate and modify lessons for my students. Often they will be more interested in something that is on a screen and hands on, than me standing there teaching a lesson. I use technology daily in my classroom. We begin the day by counting and doing our letter sounds on our Smart Board, and I incorporate many websites to help them further understand their letters, sounds, and much more. Students are more engaged and want to be part of the learning experience.My Elmo is also a staple in my classroom. Being a kindergarten teacher requires me to constantly model what we are learning.
