Bio
I have been teaching in the Sacramento area for almost 10 years now. I have taught High School English/ELD, grades 9-12, and am now teaching ELA for 7th and 8th graders at Natomas Charter School. I love working with young writers and encouraging them to get their voices heard.
Learning from teachers is the best form of professional development I've ever experienced. For that reason, I was drawn to the National Writing Project early in my career. I have been a teacher consultant for the Area 3 Writing Project since 2011, and am a member of the California Writing Project's ISAW leadership team. In 2014, I earned by M.Ed through the Teachers College of San Joaquin's Education Inquiry program. I am a member of CUE, IRA and in 2014, attended a week long summer institute at the Library of Congress. I love collaborating with other educators to improve my practice and give back to the education community as a whole.
