Cathie Gillner started her teaching career as an Early Childhood Educator for Carnegie Mellon University and then moved to an ESL position at Bethel Park School District. In 1997 she began teaching Gifted Education at Kerr Elementary in the Fox Chapel Area School District. In 2003 she moved to Dorseyville Middle School and began teaching accelerated reading and language arts.

Cathie was selected as a 2014 Pennsylvania Keystone Technology Innovator, and attended a week long technology summit at Kutztown University and was named a 2014 and 2015 Champion Of Change. She currently teaches a course called Mobile Technology Integration. This course was designed after Dorseyville Middle School went 1:1 with iPads. The course focuses on four units: Mobile Application, Next Generation Communication, Digital Branding, and Creativity & Coding.

Cathie is a Google Certified Educator and an authorized Google Educator Trainer, Schoology Ambassador, and BrainPOP Certified Educator.

She has presented at TRETC, PETE&C, and ISTE.
