Bio
John Shoemaker M.A. is an Educational Technology Specialist in the Department of Educational Technology in The School District of Palm Beach County, the 11th largest school district in the United States.
John has many roles in his position at the School District. He is the facilitator of Project SMaRT, a Technology Initiative in the school district. The project consists of approximately 250 secondary teachers from numerous schools and departments in the district.
John is also the project lead for Edmodo in the school district. He was responsible for getting the first social network approved in the school district in November 2011 after working for a year to obtain approval.
Another role John has on his team is to help integrate the iPad and the Mac into the school district. He works to keep the district's award-winning iPad in Education Wiki up to date. He is a facilitator of the award-winning project eMobilize. eMobilize seeks to transform the 20th century classroom into a dynamic mobile learning environment with resources that match the 21st century learner. eMobilize has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished Program for the 2012-13 school year. The School Board of Palm Beach County recognized John and the rest of his colleagues on June 19, 2013 for the Apple Distinguished Program award.
Finally, John is a consultant and co-founder of Education with Innovation. Education with Innovation is a group of teachers teaching teachers and administrators how to integrate technology into their environment. Along with his co-founder Dallisa Rodriguez-Green, John has presented at numerous local, state, national, and International conferences as a part of Education with Innovation.
John is certified in Elementary Education (K-6) and Varying Exceptionalities (K-12). He holds the State of Florida Reading Endorsement (K-12), and he is Verified and Highly Qualified in the State of Florida to teach Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies.
