Bio
As a composition and creative writing teacher at the University of Central Arkansas, I work hard to make sure my students are fluent with the digital world they are graduating into. All of my courses, from first year to senior, include digital components, so I'm always looking for technology to incorporate into the classroom. As a former National Writing Project Director I have also worked extensively with teachers on incorporating twenty-first century learning into the classroom. Finally, I Co-Direct Bearswrite: From Pencils to Pixels, a technology-based youth writing camp every summer and I get to see firsthand how giving kids the tools to take their writing digital reignites their passion for writing and learning. My most recent book is Rethinking Creative Writing. I also write a regular column, The Geek's Guide to the Writing Life at the Huffington Post.
