My Take

Weebly allows for easy drag-and-drop website creation. Some of the elements that can be added to Weebly: text, photos, files, maps, Flash, RSS feeds, forms, or links to social media. For users who are confident, there are many ways to customize the website, including adding HTML code.

There are some pro features that would require a paid account: like video or audio. However, you can easily have the video or audio posted somewhere else and link to it or embed it. The one pro feature I wish I had access to is the search box.

How I Use It

I have many Weebly websites - for professional development, for BYOT club, for Spanish Techbook. The reason I initially selected Weebly as the platform for my digital textbook was the automatic creation of a mobile version of the website. Since most of my students use small mobile devices to access class resources, I needed something that would display correct no matter the screen size.

For the club website, it also includes the built in blog on Weebly, which makes communication to students and parents easier.

If you sign up for the educator account, you also get student accounts. I have a students who requested access. They have created websites for projects and a student council website completely on their own.
