My Take
I feel it can be useful as long as it is used in a manner that requires the students to take responsibility.
How I Use It
I used it with the Apple TV to help students self-monitor noise level. I found it worked best if I only used it occasionally as the students lost interest when I used it everyday. It also had settings to that I could set it to allow for noise levels that are appropriate to specific activities.

Basic classroom management tool for noise levels
This is a basic tool that does exactly what it's name says. This is not something that will radically change the classroom; most teachers have other strategies they already use to monitor and control noise levels.
