My Take
I used the two videos on irony (verbal versus situational) to introduce the concept to my seventh grade students. The animated explanations were engaging and humorous. I had to explain sarcasm with more relevant examples than in the video, but they recognized the difference afterwards. I like it best for activating prior knowledge or as a quick introduction to a new concept.
How I Use It
I use this before teaching a new concept or for activating what students already know about a topic before we go deeper. My students are already used to TED talks, so the brevity of the TED-ED animations act as a better hook for introductions.
