My Take
I like the program for several reasons. First, it is free which fits into the budget nicely. Secondly, the students are excited when it is their turn to use the program. Finally, it is useful in reinforcing direct instruction for learners at all levels. My problems stems from the fact the students cannot print their drawings or color sheets due to the fact I have a very limited budget for buying ink for the one printer I to which I have access.
How I Use It
I have used the program to reinforce direct instruction, made it available as a Center, and also used extra time on the program as a reward which could be earned by completing weekly goals. I've also used the stories to jumpstart a student's interest in finding more books which contain similar or the same story. I've never had a student ask me NOT to do the program. Usually they are clamoring for more time.
