Ah ha moments: Oh, that is where that country is located!
Community Review for Stack the Countries
My Take
I like this app as a tool for developing surface knowledge. It is not great for digging deeper, but it allows the students to gain some general knowledge upfront allowing the teacher for focus on more important content. I have found that all of my students enjoy the graphics, the music, and speed of the game play. I give it high marks on engagement, but just middle of the road for pedagogy and true learning extensions.
How I Use It
I have used this app as an extension when teaching about world history and geography. I have found that our students (and adults for that matter) do not have a good understanding of where countries are located around the world. Allowing our students to play this app gives them a geographical understanding of where countries and their capitals are located. When historical events occur, we can dig a little deeper because they already know the geography. It is great app to allow students to use during down time in the class or to encourage them to play at home.
