My Take

I think this is a useful app that can be used in the classroom, especially at the lower levels. I like that it pairs visual with audio and that students who have trouble writing may enjoy being able to express themselves in this way.

How I Use It

I would use this product in the classroom as a personal journal activity in which the students could choose pictures of their own to describe, I would also use it as a way to convey multi-step directions and even have students create their own multi-step directions for a specific task. This app could also be used as a means of storytelling and improving students reading fluency in which the read a poem or short story aloud with chosen pictures. Lastly, this app would be a great tool to create social stories with.

Sharing Thoughts with Speech Journal

Speech Journal can be used with many ages and types of students, even though it may seem focused on students receiving speech services. With creative thinking, the primary and intermediate teacher could find many uses. A consideration when using Speech Journal on a shared device is that each student can access the journal of other students. Currently, the images and audio file do not merge together into a video file when sent. The two media files are separate from one another.
