My Take
Socrative is a fun and interactive site that works well with Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) initiatives as well as classes with extra computers or tablets. I have been using it for the past couple of years and every time I utilize it the students are excited and ask that we use it again. The "Space Race" game is a fun option, however I wish that there were different versions so that I could mix it up (maybe a car, boat, horse race, etc.)
How I Use It
I have used Socrative a number of ways. In my first experiences with it I utilized it as a review game in which the students were in small groups and a question would be posed and then the group leader (whoever had unlimited texting - back when not everybody had it) would text in the team response. As I realized that more and more students had phones and/or tablets I began to use it periodically as an exit ticket or to gauge interest/understanding of a topic that we were currently covering.
