My Take

Scratch can be overwhelming at first because it can be used for so many different activities, so teachers can dismiss it. But if given the time the websites offers an abundance of instructional vides and support. For first time users I recommend taking apart a previously created project or starting with a simple animation.

How I Use It

I have used Scratch for a number of classroom activities from introducing computer programming to game design. The students followed the Code.org tutorial for creating an animated Christmas Card design. Students were also asked to find a game they enjoyed and then deconstruct it. Students then were given the task of re-designing the game. This was great for students who may have trouble getting started.
