My Take

Overall, I liked Remind to supplement my communication strategies already in place- it does not replace a phone call or personalized email to students or parents. It did help my families that did not have computers at home feel more connected to the classroom I think- at least they could receive texts from me and then could call if they had a question. I love the scheduling feature- I can schedule out announcements and forget about them! Don't forget to delete classes when the year is over to avoid confusion.

How I Use It

I have used Remind not only with students- but also with parents. (Most of my students have been younger, so I opted for parent communication instead of students) I found this tool most helpful when communicating with parents. I had them sign up at conference time to receive my Remind text messages. I would send out texts when a test was coming up, a family night, or even to wish them well around the holiday time. I like that you can't get return texts and everything is anonymous.
