My Take

This site should not be used as a teaching tool, but it can definitely be used as reinforcement and practice. I like how all students have their own account. As a teacher, you can monitor and track progress. When a student has completed a task, you can print out information on that certain student in that particular level.

How I Use It

This website is used at the computer center center in my classroom, although the site isn't used daily. Each student is assigned books at their own reading level or above. The students read or listen to the books, then take a comprehension quiz at the end of reading/listening. They earn stars for reading books and taking quizzes. I use this as a supplement to my guided reading groups in the classroom. The students love going to the computers to read and earn stars to create an environment in their personal rocket. The rocket is the incentive on this site. The more books they read, the more stars they earn. The only downfall is that is asks multiple choice questions. It would be beneficial if students could type in responses.
