My Take

RAZ Kids is a great program for students to use at school. You can customize the reading level for each student. Students can listen to, read on their own and take a quiz on a variety of fiction and non-fiction titles at their reading level. It is easy to see what students have done (what they have listened to, read and what quizzes they have taken and how they did). I check in frequently to see what students are doing on the program so I can give them feedback. It is easy to change the reading level for students as needed.
Quizzes at beginning reading levels offer students the option of it being read to them. Students can earn stars which they can use to create in the RAZ Rocket feature. You can send home log-in information so students can use this at home, as well. It is a great way to provide students with a wide variety of books right at their reading level to read at home. The support the program provides is great too, especially for beginning readers. For higher readers, it is also nice to have harder books on different topics. Students enjoy the different titles, both fiction and non-fiction and find the books interesting and engaging.

How I Use It

I use this with my students at least three times a month in class as part of our Netbook time. Students enjoy using the program and it is a good supplement to our daily SSR. It would also be great to use for reading groups. I also gave the log-in information to parents at fall conferences and encouraged them to have their child use the program at home.
