A fair way to make sure ALL students participate.
Community Review for Random Name Selector Pro
My Take
Like most classes, I have students who always immediately have something to say during class discussions and those who need more time or are just shy. When I have browser tabs open on my smart board and need to make sure all of my students are participating, I use Random Name Selector. I usually cut the time to two or three seconds per name, and most of the students love to see their names magically appear on the screen.
How I Use It
I actually use the FREE, web-based version of Random Name Selector. I can build a class list under the "Change Names" tab and bookmark the saved pages for different classes.Random Name Selector is a high-tech version of good ol' popsicle sticks with hand-written names on them that allow me to randomly choose students to make sure every voice is heard. You have the option of keeping names in the mix or taking them out after the students are called. The latter is great when choosing roles for readers' theater or class jobs.
