My Take

This is a hard one. While looking around this site I found information on a marvelous video that I used with my class "The Machine that Made Us" - all about the Gutenberg Printing Press. However, I was hoping for a site where the students would be able to look at some historical newspapers. This was not the case. While there are a lot of links to websites, blogs, and books this is not a place to have students explore historical documents. I was hoping for more. While it did lead me to some good information, you will have to spend time looking for that information on/in other sources.

How I Use It

I was hoping to use this site to have my students analyze some historical newspapers and complete online primary source analysis'. This site however did not have that option. There are lists of historical newspapers and links to many other websites and blogs. They have a great introduction/background on the history of printed news in America which was a great introduction to the topic. But I was not able to look at any digital copies of historical newspapers.
