The value of "unloseable" flashcards can't be overestimated!
Community Review for Quizlet
My Take
The tool is simple, but--esp. for students who struggle the most--the value of having cards that are "unloseable" cannot be overestimated! It's not particularly motivating for students, but I think it is a tool to share with them to practice their vocabulary work.
More games (especially ones that don't require correct spelling) would be welcome.
How I Use It
Quizlet is flexible about words/definitions are input. One method is for students to make their own cards (for all words, or the one's they need to practice). Another is for the teacher to create them and have students search for them on the site. I've used both methods, and I prefer teacher-input: that way you know the definitions are correct and students spend more time practicing (less time hunting and pecking on the keyboard). I really like the flashcard, test, and scatter features. I think they are the most effective features for students practicing to gain automaticity with the words. I wish they had an example sentence option to deepen understanding of words.
