My Take

There needs to be a teacher mode that allows a teacher to build a class that has restrictions and some control as to what students see for images. However, embedding completed flashcards into a web site is a handy component that allows for control from the teacher perspective.

How I Use It

Quizlet has been a great extension for developing and practicing vocabulary. I currently embed Quizlet lessons into a Google site for students to build background knowledge prior to rolling out the entire lesson. Students typically enjoy playing the additional games, but the games can be challenging for younger students below 4th grade. In the past, I've required students to develop their own "study sets" to practice vocabulary prior to a test. The biggest problem with the site is finding images that are relevant and sometimes appropriate for elementary students to use when developing their own set. Additionally, students need to create an account using an email account in order to build a flashcard set which can be a roadblock.
