My Take

I love Prodigy. The user interface, game mode, and teacher tools allow the teacher the get what they need and the students to get what they want. Like any educational resource it has its kinks, at times students are more interested in exploring worlds and shopping for new wands and outfits than battling monsters which prevent from maximizing math practice. However, with the new focus mode it provides a happy medium for students to stay focused. I also love the teacher interface and the amount of reports it provides. As a private school I can't use some of the reports as we don't use Common Core however, it does help see how our curriculum matches up with national expectations. Assessment reports help get a quick snapshot to match or oppose classroom observations. I strongly recommend.

How I Use It

I use Prodigy as independent practice or for fast finishers. Using the assessment tool on the teacher profile allows me to assign students practice skills that echo what we have studied in class. I addition, I can assign problems that challenge or provide additional practice in lower grade level content. With the addition of focus mode it allows students to stay focused but remain engaged. This resource is one of my teaching staples!
