My Take

I love Prodigy, and already speak to other schools when I consult or present about the benefits of the program. It is easy to set up if your school already uses Google Education accounts, and is easily accessed by students. The fact that there is a paid membership option does not detract from non-membership users' opinion of the game, and many of my students do not have a paid membership. Yet, they all love the program, and I create plans and assessments that link in with the content taught in class for that unit, so I am getting constant formative assessment to inform my teaching practice. It can be used as small group work, it is adaptive, and can really assist with your advanced ability./gifted students. The content is fun, colourful, interactive, and customisable. I have my own "student" account, and battle my students in class (and at home) which they absolutely love. We also have started holding tournaments - where students battle each other until we have a tournament winner! It's so engaging and makes Maths so much more engaging. I definitely suggest all teachers start using this wonderful free resource in their classrooms.

How I Use It

I use Prodigy as a way of increasing the multiple exposure my students get to the Math content learned in class, as well as a diagnostic tool for assessing formatively what student are understanding certain skills, and which are not.
