Community Review for Prodigy Math
My Take
Having used quite a few online math programs throughout my teaching career, what I have noticed is that the students begin with great enthusiasm, and then, in a short period of time, that energy and interest diminishes. This has not occurred with Prodigy. The students' engagement and excitement remains, and they look forward to using it both in class and at home.
The program also has a wide variety of reports that help the teacher determine the needs of the students. These needs can be addressed by assigning specific skills either individually or to the class as a whole. I have found Prodigy to be a great teaching tool.
How I Use It
I used Prodigy in three main ways. First, I use it to identify areas in which a student is having difficulty. This allows me to focus on that child's individual needs. Second, I use it to determine how the overall class is understanding the current standard being taught. Finally, I use it as a review tool to help maintain knowledge of previously taught material.
