A truly great way to get students interested and engaged in math!
Community Review for Prodigy Math
My Take
Overall, I love Prodigy! I think it gets students interested in math and takes away the stress. I love anything that encourages kids to play at home (and trust me, my students would play Saturday morning instead of watching cartoons, it was great)!!! They practiced skills I didn't always have time to reinforce in class, especially if they were skills that they were expected to have mastered before coming into the classroom. I love the adaptive feature because it allows for intervention or extension when needed. All in all, I would recommend Prodigy to you class.
How I Use It
I use it as an optional app that they can use during our math rotations. I also send a letter home at the start of the year with login instructions and I've found a lot of my students will play at home (even on weekends or during a holiday). It's awesome! I will align it to the standards we are learning in class and that way they are practicing what we are doing. Another thing I will do is have them practice the grade below's standard (for example when I introduce elapsed time I have them spend about a week just practicing telling time to the hour and minute with the 2nd grade standard).
Also---the few weeks before standardized testing I was able to assign them a test practice which had questions from all the different standards expected of students throughout the year. It was a great way to jog their memories.
