Community Review for Prodigy Math
My Take
Sometimes I will project Prodigy on the whiteboard and we will work through some problems as a class. Since in the kids' minds it is all just a game, it takes no work to engage them in the material. I also use Prodigy as an incentive in the classroom for various things. For example, if a student completes with accuracy our district required minutes on another online math instructional program for that day; then, she/he may play Prodigy (which I have set via the planner tool to a specific set of skills).
How I Use It
I have taught both second and third grade. Over the last several years, my students have used Prodigy - last year more than ever. So, this year I specifically set out to get the most out of this free app. I used the teacher planner tool which is found on the dashboard. With the planner tool I am able to "push out" to specific students or the whole class which skills I want them to practice (all aligned to our standards). This is an excellent way to get in some additional practice for the kids and they begged to play each day. I have yet to have a child get bored of Prodigy!
