My Take

Prodigy results in confidence and progress by students who are practicing their math the most. It is rewarding to see some of our lower students shine amongst their peers for a skill they would not have been traditionally recognized for. Massive amounts of data can be collected about skills students encounter in the game, which allow teachers and parents to target weak areas with additional instruction and practice.

How I Use It

Prodigy allows teachers to assign specific skills to their classes or to individual students. Assignments show up as a series of practice problems their characters complete to earn items and complete tasks in the game. Teachers can accelerate or remediate based on skills each student needs. Students are generally unconcerned with the level of math being completed by their classmates. Battles and leaderboard statistics are based on the number of correct answers a student has. Each student is completing tasks at their own level. What results is confidence and progress by students who are practicing their math the most. It is rewarding to see some of our lower students shine amongst their peers for a skill they would not have been traditionally recognized for.
