A quick to learn program that can be used for brainstorming OR making a presentation!
Community Review for Popplet
My Take
This is an easy to learn program. There is a short tutorial that is available to get the user started. I think it would work well for brainstorming ideas with a class or for making mind maps for problem solving, building vocabulary, or showing relationships/condensing material/making historical connections from literature and history. I think it would be great to use for collaborative group work too. It could be used as an introduction to a unit, mapping what is known and those areas unknown too. Then when the unit is almost finished, using it to fill in the unknown areas and making connections using the first map. Foreign language classes could link English words to the foreign language word, adding images for a presentation.
How I Use It
I used it to have middle school multimedia students make presentations about themselves. After a quick introduction to the program, middle school students were able to run with it! They made presentations, inserting images and videos, drawing images, and typing text. Students are able to invite others to collaborate on their popples. They first set up their own free accounts using school emails. They were fully engaged and were able to make interesting presentations. They even asked if they could present them to the class! One student came back to class two days later and was using Popplet to make a menu in Spanish class. I presented it to a group of teachers and they immediately came up with ways they could use it in a classroom!
