My Take

PebbleGo is great! I receive great feedback from homeroom teachers and the students. By nature it allows for differentiation for students of all learning abilities and backgrounds. Students easily are independent users once show how to navigate the site.

One critique - some of the social studies and biographical content is American-centric. It would be great to see a widening of topics that international students can relate to.

How I Use It

I am a lower elementary librarian and introduce PebbleGo to the students as part of information literacy integration. I teach students how to save the website to the desktop of their iPad, how to log on, how to use the features to filter the content and find topics of interest, and how to use the audio function. I introduce it at the start of a science or social studies unit. After students successfully log in, they are then given the task to find topics appropriate to the current unit of study (habitats, for example) and either read or listen to.

Not only is PebbleGo great for supporting the curricular content but also a great resource for students to learn about topics of personal interest.
