My Take

I like the modern and slick design of Padlet. I like the ease of using the tool for both me and my students. I like that I can customize the wallpaper with a photo that illustrates the topic of the Padlet. I don't like that when I remake a Padlet and copy the design, it doesn't include the column headings. If I copy the posts, too, the headings are copied, but then I have to delete each post individually before I can save the Padlet as a Template. I have several classes with 16-24 Padlets per class and that's a lot of posts to delete one at a time which is something I don't like.

How I Use It

I use Padlets as knowledge check tools in my college classes. Before class, students read the textbook chapter and review the PowerPoint. I use the KWLQ model by setting up each Padlet with 4 questions: What I know about (topic); What I want to know about (topic); What I learned about (topic); and My question about (topic) is. Students post their answers and we review the posts at the start of each lecture class. This use of Padlet allows me to gauge student learning, allows the student to assess their own learning and is another means of presenting the material.
