Clean, easy to use and high quality audio segments you can use in class with assignments.
Community Review for NPR News
My Take
NPR segments are a great way to center an economic lesson for high school students. Instead of using video for a flipped lesson you can use audio segments like the ones available at NPR. Assigning a segment for students to listen to at home and then building a discussion around it can create a quality activity for your class. Teachers should preview and find segments which will be most appealing to students.
How I Use It
The NPR app isn't made for teachers but it has some great content that teachers can use in the classroom and there are audio features which really appeal to students. One example would be a quick search of their business programs and find "Planet Money". Planet Money has hundreds of segments on economic topics that students will find interesting. Most audio segments are around 20 minutes long. Some recent segments include "Is the NCAA An Illegal Cartel?", "What the Lebron? (about Nike shoes)" and "How to Steal a Million Barrels of Oil".
