I find that the Noggin Preschool learning App is very useful for children to learn more outside of class.

My Take

I find this app to be helpful outside of the classroom. There are no teacher controls, and no way for educators to track their students data or success. Although, it is entertaining. Children usually sit around on their iPads/TVs and watch their favorite characters for hours. If they were able to interact with them online, and learn while doing so, it is a perfect substitute for mindless TV/game watching. There are games and videos to ensure the child is able to be entertained and actually engage in the work to be completed. Children are also able to pick which characters/TV shows they want to engage with. This lets the student stay entertained while learning. It is a very good app for young children to ensure they are doing more outside of school. It would just be more beneficial for educators to use if they could have more control over what the child is learning about. It would also be much more beneficial if they could see a students progress and track how many inter-activities they have completed. I feel as though this is a good tool for parents that want to make sure their child is keeping their mind flowing with useful information for their age.

How I Use It

I would use this resource in my teaching to ensure my students are learning outside of school while having fun and being able to engage with their favorite TV show characters to make it interesting, but also mentally beneficial. Although there is no way for teachers to control/track their students, I find it to be entertaining enough for children to want to use it anyway.
