My Take
National Geographic Kids provides great resources for students to observe animals and help understand them better. Teachers can use the site to help introduce conecepts and supplement instruction. Students can interact with engaging content at school or at home. This site is an excellent way for students to make connections with other people and places around the world.
How I Use It
Students can research specific animals and find out information such as size, habitat, diet, classification, and physical characteristics. There are a variety of animal videos to choose from which is helpful to the visual and auditory learner. Games are all related to animals and other scientific concepts, and there are even quizzes to check understanding. Students enjoy role-playing and games in the virtual environment of Animal Jams. The home page is filled with interesting content related to popular and monthly topics. Students can read science facts, find helpful tips and vote on various topics.
