Community Review for NASA's Space Place
My Take
There is so much information here that it could be time-consuming to figure out which sections to use in your classroom. It would be easier if it were categorized by grade-levels. All in all, though, it is worth your time! There is something for everyone.
How I Use It
My class constructs satellites out of recycled material to culminate our space unit. There are informational articles as well as "how to" directions regarding all sorts of satellites. Students use the NASA site to research the satellites they construct and present their findings to the class along with their creations. They may make a PowerPoint or write an essay.

Space Fun for Everyone!
This is a great site for getting kids interested in astronomy and space topics, due to engaging games and fun activities. I would not recommend it for low literacy or very young learners, due to the reading content on the site (including lengthy directions for somewhat complex games). The games are high quality and work well for independent exploration. There are a large number of suggested experiments and activities that would work well in a whole-class or parent-led situation. The site is a bit complicated to navigate, sometimes mixing all types of content together, which confuses students who are looking for just games or just images and information.

Have fun in Space!
I thought the information provided was very informative for students. They could learn a lot from this website. It may be difficult for students who struggle with reading and comprehension. But overall, for students who want to learn about things related to space, this is a great website!
