Community Review for Mindomo (mind mapping)
My Take
Mindomo School is great for classrooms. It makes collaboration easy.
How I Use It
I use Mindomo in math class all the time. Its great - the teacher can set up a class assignment with a "base" mindmap. This makes it easy to pre-populate the mind map with some images, formulas or text ahead of time. This provides an entry point for all students. Students then organize their mindmap based on their own perspective. They can also add in media of their own, change the design, etc. The best part of Mindomo is that students in your class can join into groups together and each be working on the Mindmap collaboratively from their own computer.

It's No Popplet!
I was very excited to use mindomo in my class. I have had great success with Popplet and was hoping that this program could be used in a mobile interface. Unfortunately, I felt that the interface was a little to confusing for my 7th and 8th graders. I would usually try a product multiple times before determining if it was essential but I quickly went back to Popplet.

Plenty of options, but a slightly difficult interface.
Mindomo is a mindmapping tool, free to use, with plenty of flexibility. I've experimented with it a fair amount with the goal of using it for students to map projects and research and possibly even flowcharts for computer programs. However, I stopped short of using it in the classroom or even recommending it for students to use on their own. The interface is a bit confusing to use, requiring a fairly long time to create a document. The controls are not quite intuitive, and customizing the arrows and boxes takes too many steps. More effort to make the interface natural would greatly benefit.
