My Take

Overall I give this app 3 stars. There are so many rote math practice apps available in the market, I didn't find any features that made this one stand out other than its appearance. I work in a Special Education high school classroom, so many apps for practice of basic skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are geared toward engaging a younger audience. This app has a much more mature appearance. However, there is not much students can do other than drill and practice. Settings can be modified for skill level from easy to hard, however on the hard setting there is no place in the app to complete the operation. Students still need to copy the problem to paper and solve, then transfer the answer to the app. Sometimes traditional paper and pencil methods have their value in learning.

How I Use It

This app has one task, drill and practice of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. It is intended for independent practice. While settings can be modified to accommodate student skill level (easy, medium, hard), on the medium and hard settings, students will need to solve the problem using paper and pencil then transfer answer to app. In my opinion this contradicts the purpose of using the app in the first place, to replace traditional methods of drill and practice. I would like to see more features such as flash card mode, in app problem solving, step by step support for students solving more complex problems, however this app does not provide that.
