My Take

Math Playground is a great classroom support site. Content is organized by math topic on the home page and includes addition, multiplication, fractions, geometry, ratios, percent, and prealgebra. Other sections include math videos, word problems and logic games.

How I Use It

I used the Thinking Blocks program with students in grades 3 and 4 to help them visual math word problems. I was amazed at how quickly their skills improved. The key is to begin with whole class instruction and have the students work through the modeling process together. After that, they can work on the tutorials independently or in groups of two. I've used many of the math games to reinforce multiplication and fraction skills. The logic games and puzzles are great during free time.
