Great concept, but difficult to use.
Community Review for Masterpiece for Osmo
My Take
The great part about this app is that it is free and requires nothing extra once you get the Osmo kit. If you buy the kit, you might as well download the Masterpiece app. My fourth graders quickly tired of it after a bit given that the other apps that come with Osmo are much more engaging and easy to use. However, if you have a budding artist at home, this could be a great way to show him the importance of key lines in drawing.
How I Use It
This free app is a quick download after you purchase the Osmo Kit ($79.99-$99.00). You can use the pre-loaded pictures provided, or take a picture and upload it to the app. Your photo is basically turned into clipart with lines added for easy copying. The problem is that you have to look at the screen as you draw on paper in front of you. You are tracing a picture in the mirror. It's not very easy to use. I have had a couple of students who are very interested in drawing and I've shown them how to use it. They like it, but it wouldn't be for the whole class.
